Lloyd Franklin Furney, Jr. passed away on August 27, 2025 in Zephyrhills, FL. He was born in Atmore, AL on September 15, 1932 to Lloyd Franklin Furney and Cleo Moody Furney. He graduated from Escambia County High School and Marion Military Institute then enrolled in Auburn University. He served in the Army during the Korean War and upon returning from duty attended and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1958. Lloyd moved his family to Zephyrhills in 1971 to own Moody's Hardware.
Lloyd was a high level golfer with 17 holes in one to his credit and enjoyed playing well into his 80's. He held four course records in Alabama and Florida. Lloyd also enjoyed hunting in Alabama for many years and fishing down in the 10,000 Islands.
Lloyd is predeceased by his parents and his long-time companion, Betty Dombrowski. He is survived by his daughters Ann (Eric) Pirttima, Lynda Furney, and Nancy (Gene) Brown. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Andrew (Shelby) Pirttima, Alli Murphy, Dillon (Nichole) Crossgrove, Lance Furney, and Christopher (Jamie) Brown. He was a very proud Papa to his great grandchildren: Aiden Murphy, Eleanor Brown, and Quinn Pirttima.
