Linda Diane Gokey, 65, passed away in Dade City, Florida on January 31, 2024. Linda was born on February 16, 1958, in Ithaca, New York to parents Theodore and Helen Chaffee.
She was a graduate of South Jefferson High School in Adams, New York, She was a graduate of NCCC of northern New York and earned an AS degree in criminal justice. She worked for a number of years operating her own business providing cleaning services to residential and commercial properties, providing childcare services to families, and was an office organizer and bookkeeper for her family's business.
On August 22, 1992, in Malone, New York, was married to Timothy John Gokey. After graduation she resided in Malone, New York, after her marriage she moved to Saugerties, New York, and she and her family lived in Saugerties, New York, for approximately 20 years when they relocated to Dade City, Florida.
Linda enjoyed flea markets, and antique fairs and attended auctions with her husband they collected antiques. Linda loved to play board games, and do puzzles, and she loved to play miniature golf. She liked traveling with her husband and her son. Linda's hobbies included gardening and reading a good book. She enjoyed lunch outings with her good friends, Hillary, Manny, and Alice Yount. She also enjoyed the companionship of her English bulldog Clementine.
Linda is survived by her husband, Timothy John Gokey of Dade City, Florida; son, Theodore S Gokey of Dade City, Florida; brother, Theodore Chaffee Jr. from Vermont; three sisters, Deborah Jock of Hamlin, New York, Sandra Chaffee of Malone, New York, Becky Chaffee of Orlando, Florida; four sister-in-law's, Janalyn Gokey of Chateaugay Lake, New York, Jean Gokey of Poestenkill, New York, Carolyn Gokey of Malone, New York, Maureen Gokey of Chateaugay Lake, New York, and 13 nieces and 9 nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Linda was pre-deceased by her parents, Theodore and Helen Chaffee; one sister-in-law, Marsha Chaffee of Montpelier, Vermont; six brothers-in-law, Mark Jock of Hamlin New York, Leonard Gokey of Chateaugay, New York, John Gokey of Poestenkill, New York, Dave Gokey of Malone, New York, Brian Gokey of Plattsburgh, New York, Robert Gokey of Chateaugay, New York; and three of her loving English bulldogs, Winston, Ike, and Spike.
A visitation will be on February 4th Sunday, between the hours of 10 am and 12:30 pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida, located at 11441 US Highway 301 Dade City, Florida. A Catholic burial mass will be held at St Leo Abbey, Saint Leo, Florida, located 33601 County Rd. 52, in Saint Leo University Campus.
