Guildner, Leslie Arnold, age 91 passed away July 31, 2012 in Zephyrhills, one day before his 92nd birthday. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, and attended the University of Nebraska where he earned his BA. and MA. Then attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge Massachusetts where He earned his PHD. In Physical Chemistry-Thermodynamic Temperature. He was a veteran in the 514th Army Battalion. He was deployed from Ft. Lewis Washington in September of 1944 to the Battle of the Bulge in Ardennes, under Patton. Leslie earned a Bronze star for his meritorious achievement. During Dr. Guildners 23 year career with the National Bureau of Standards in Washington DC. He achieved several honors for his extraordinary work in science including the Silver Medal on October 26, 1977 and Gold Medal November 6, 1980. His articles were published in Scientific American and he was featured on the cover of Physics Today. He was also inducted into Whos Who of Science and Whos Who of America. Locally he belonged to several civic organizations and was past president of Zephyrhills Tourist Club, His lifetime hobby was gardening and anyone who knew him remembered his beautiful gardens. Leslie was predeceased by his wife Angelica Ines Candida Guildner, and two great grandchildren Amber and Mikey Nieves. Survived by daughter Sara Escobio of Pennsylvania, step daughter Nancy (Curtis) Pond of Florida, grand children Laura (Tommy) McLeod of Florida, Jennifer Oskoian of Florida, Jake Oskoian of Florida, Ray Escobio of Pennsylvania, Sister Betty Sterner of Arkansas, great grandchildren Lawson and Ryann McLeod, and close friends Loretta and George Dimitruck and family. Gathering of friends and family will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home on US Hwy. 301, on Saturday August 4, 2012 from 1 to 3pm with a memorial service at 3.
