Obituary

Leonard E. Billingsley, 94, formerly of Bushnell, passed away December 28, 2014 in Kankakee, IL. He was born in Jackson County, TN, October 11, 1920 the son of Arthor and Ethel (McNabb) Billingsley. On February 21, 1945, Leonard married Martha N. Dobbs in East St. Louis, IL.Mr. Billingsley retired in June of 1983 after 20 years of service as a vault man for Purolator Security, Inc. He served during WWII as a PFC-Military Police in the Army from 1943-1946, was a member of the American Legion and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Bushnell, FL.He was nicknamed Bill in the service and that name stayed with him the rest of his life. The highpoints of his life include his marriage, the births of his two sons and his retirement. He was a strong Christian that showed in all his actions. Bill loved to work around his home in Florida, which occupied much of his spare time.He is survived by his wife, Martha, of Kankakee; sons: Gary (Suzanne) Billingsley of Bourbonnais and L. Randel (Nancie) Billingsley of Traverse City, MI; grandchildren: Brandon (Gwen) Billingsley of Shelbyville, IL, Dane Billingsley of Fort Collins, CO, Riley Billingsley of Los Angeles, CA, Jennifer A. Gass and two great-grandsons: Chance and Finn Billingsley.Bill is preceded in death by his mother and 6 siblings.The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 10:00 am until service time at 11:00 am in the Mausoleum Chapel at Chapel Hill Gardens, 11531 Hwy 301, Dade City.
