Obituary

Lee E. Hanna passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2015, at the age of 87. Born and raised in Oil City, Pennsylvania, he was the son Floyd R. Hanna and Anna Eddy Hanna. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he graduated from Bucknell University in 1951. He married Nancy Rose who was his partner for 70 years. Mr. Hanna was an entrepreneur whose varied career spanned the ownership of several businesses including Hanna Transfer/agent Allied Van Lines, Brown Boiler and Tank Works and American Construction. He and Nancy lived in Belleair Shore where he served as mayor for two terms and Belleair Beach, Florida, for a combined 31years. He was an avid sportsman and founding member of the Tampa Bay Chapter of Safari Club International, a member and range officer of the Wyoming Antelope Club, and was known as a dedicated fundraiser for the conservation efforts of both organizations. Mr. Hanna will be remembered by his family and friends for his love of life, integrity and unfailing generosity. He was predeceased by his daughter Nancy Gail Hanna. He is survived by his wife Nancy R. Hanna, sister Lorraine DiNatale of Pittsburgh, Pa., daughter Marilyn Wendell, daughter Sharon Hanna-West, son Mike Hanna, son-in-law Jack West and daughter-in-law Cara Hanna, as well as grandchildren Jonathan Wendell, Mark Wendell and his wife Jayne Walsh, Alexandra West, Lee Hanna, Jack West, Kaitlyn Hanna and Jessica Hanna, and great grandchildren Nathan Wendell, Megan Wendell and Cassidy Wendell. He was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church of Indian Rocks Beach before moving to Dade City in 2014. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will be held in late April. Memorial contributions may be directed to Gulfside Hospice in Dade City, the National Kidney Foundation or other charity of your choice.
