Lawrence W. "Larry" Campbell 89, of Dade City, FL passed away Wednesday, June 8th, 2022. He was born August 28, 1932, in Union City, PA to Paul & Irene Barber Campbell, and was the oldest of 14 children. Larry grew up in Edinboro, PA and joined the Navy right out of High school. While in the Navy Larry was stationed in Norfolk, VA, his ship pulled into the Boston Naval Yard in Boston, MA, where he went on a blind date that would forever change his life. Larrys blind date would introduce him to Ann L. Johnson who would be the love of his life. Larry and Ann were married on April 24, 1954. They eventually moved from Massachusetts to Hollywood, FL, where they would start their family and Larry would learn his lifelong trade of installing acoustical ceilings. While in Hollywood, FL, they would have two sons, Mark and Matthew. When Larry learned his trade of acoustical ceiling installation it would be something he would teach to his brother Jack and brother-in-law Don Helmbreck, his sons, nephews and many other ceiling installers along the way learned from him. In 1970 Larry moved his family along with his brother Jack and his family to Dade City, Florida where they each bought land and raised cows, and various other agriculture activities. After moving to Dade City, FL, Larry and Ann had their third son Scott. In years to come Larry and Ann would see their three grandsons come into this world and grow up down the driveway from their home on the same property. The oldest grandson being Brett and 11 months later his twin grandsons Wesley and Jackson. In his declining years those grandsons would help to take care of their grampa and make sure he had what he needed from town after he gave up driving. Larry and Ann remained longtime area residents of Dade City. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired from the Commercial Construction Industry specializing in Acoustical Ceiling Installation.
Larry is survived by 3 sons: Mark Campbell (Brenda), Matthew Campbell (Donna) and Scott Campbell; 3 Grandchildren: Brett, Wesley, Jackson; 3 Great Grandchildren: Avery, Addilyn, Cailyn; 4 siblings: Genevieve Echols, George Campbell, Bill Campbell, Jerry Campbell; 2 sisters in laws Shirley Campbell, Beverly Campbell, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry is predeceased by his wife and sweetheart of 55 years Ann L. Campbell, his parents Paul & Irene Barber Campbell, siblings: Jack Campbell (Gloria), Lewis Campbell, Marie Campbell Helmbreck (Don), Bob Campbell, Frank Campbell (Lois), Art Campbell, Annie Campbell Nichols, Eugene Campbell (Claudia), Paul "Bus" Campbell.
Funeral Services will be held 10am Wednesday, June 15th, 2022, at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, with burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The family will receive friends for viewing from 5-7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
