Lawrence Oliver Buckland “Larry”, 85 years old of Zephyrhills, FL died September 3, 2026. He was born August 25, 1941, in Covington, VA. His parents were Oliver and Velma (King) Buckland. Larry died in the loving presence of his wife, Ellen (Jones) Buckland. They were married August 10, 1963. Larry was the oldest of 8 siblings. Kathryn LaCross, Carrie Noble, Herbert Buckland and Wayne Buckland, all preceded him in death. Vona Burkhead of Shipshewana, IN, Patricia Buckland of New Orleans, LA, and Gary Buckland of Coldwater, MI. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins and greats. Included are 3 children, Carl Buckland of St. Pete, FL, Amy Barro and Jose of Asbury, NJ, Leah Wright and Tom of Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Having lived in WV, in 1951 his dad moved the family to Albion and Kedallville, IN where he attended school. He lived there for 34 years. Then he moved to Troy, OH to finish his retirement from the International Harvestor Company (Truck Building Industry). He spent 31.5 years with them before retiring. Later, he moved to Theodosia, MO where he lived for 25 years. He has many friends, throughout the United States. While in The Ozarks he became Deputy Sheriff. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting IH memorabilia. He also enjoyed camping and riding his motorcycle with his many friends. After his retirement he worked in a fabricating shop and an auto body shop. In 2019 he made Zephyrhills, Florida his permanent home to be close to the church that he loved. Larry just loved Thursday mornings at his shop/museum where he would host coffee for his many friends. One morning 56 men showed up for his coffee! It was a wonderful time to witness of the Lord's greatness to them. He enjoyed working at church camps and helping rebuild Slidell, LA after hurricane Katrina destroyed it. Chances are if you knew Larry for very long, he has helped you in some way or another. May God Bless you as you grieve. He was the head elder at Zephyr Christian Church and took that position very seriously. Praying and reading the Bible daily for inspired leadership by the direction of the Holy Spirit. His Savior, his wife, his family and his church was his life. Trust me, he is longing and looking forward to seeing all of you once again in Heaven.

A memorial service will be held for Larry Buckland at Zephyr Christian Church on Saturday September 12, 2026 at 10:30 AM, 5940 Dogwood Street, Zephyrhills, FL 33452 with Jon Stradtner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zephyr Christian Church for the rebuilding of the church after the destruction caused by Milton in 2024.
