Larry Gene Phillips, age 93, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Larry was born on March 18, 1932, in Flint, Michigan, to Bert and Matilda Phillips. A man of integrity and service, Larry proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and later dedicated 30 years of his career to the Internal Revenue Service, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

In April 1980, Larry married Barbara Jean Wetzel, and together they built a loving life filled with laughter, devotion, and meaningful connections. He was a proud and supportive father to his sons: Gregg Phillips (Grosse Ile, MI), Brian Phillips (Fairfield, OH), and Keith Phillips (Lebanon, OH); and a loving grandfather to Jacob Phillips (Viera, FL). He also embraced his role as a caring stepfather to Mike Preslar (Trade, TN), Pam Preslar (St. Petersburg, FL), and Debbie Preslar (TX).

Larry lived in many places throughout his life, forming deep friendships and strong community ties wherever he went. In retirement, he enjoyed the freedom and joy of golfing, boating, RV'ing, and spending time with friends and family—always quick with a warm smile and a kind word.

Those who knew Larry will remember him as a loving, honest, happy, and wise man—devoted to his family, loyal to his friends, and grounded in the simple values that truly matter. His presence was a blessing, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
