Obituary

Kevin Dale Stanger was born on August 10, 1962, in Anderson, Indiana and passed away on November 11, 2023, Veteran's Day, at AdventHealth Zephyrhills Hospital with his wife by his side. Kevin was born to Richard Mark and Norma Jean Stanger who have both preceded him in death. He lived in Indiana with his family until they moved to Florida in 1998.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nerida; sons, Kristopher and Nicholas and daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Matt Sedowicz and his favorite puppy dog, Molly; mothers, Mary Sturm and Linda (Rick) Babbitt. He had 3 brothers, Scott, Rick (Teresa) and David (Jessica) and he nourished those relationships his whole life. He also cherished his relationship with his best friend, Jay Puig, who was as close as a brother; Uncle Tom (Shirley) and closest cousins, Chris (Laura), Kerry (Michelle), Dalen Tranbarger and their families. He was privileged to have numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gina Castillo and Rafael Cabrero; many sisters in-law and brothers in-law and their families. His friendships were many, as Kevin was such a giver and helper to anyone in need. He supported the troops and his country with all his heart.

Other family members who preceded him in death were both sets of his grandparents; Uncle Bob (World War II Veteran) and Aunt Patty Norris; niece, Mandie Stanger; nephew, Matt Stanger; Aunt's, Lois and Nancy; sister-in-law, Jodi Little; stepfather, Ray Sturm; and cousin, Trent Norris (Vietnam Veteran).

Kevin dedicated his career to helping seniors secure their future. This gave him great joy. He was an active volunteer with many organizations such as Metropolitan Ministries, a FEMA volunteer for Natural Disaster Relief during numerous hurricanes in Florida and New Orleans, and for Homeless Relief Programs at numerous churches as well as serving as a Sunday School teacher. At the time of his death, he had been a member of Idlewild Baptist Church for 17 years. He was an avid Indianapolis Pacer fan; he loved to fish and enjoyed nature, especially birds, flowers, and hatching Monarch butterflies.

Kevin was a dedicated and supportive father who never missed an opportunity to teach his children, whether it was to learn to ride a bike, drive a car, how to maintain them and become a compassionate person.... all the while never missing their sports events. Kevin's desire to help others followed even after his death as he chose to be an organ donor. There was an incredible turnout for his Honor Walk at the hospital. Multiple recipients were granted a second chance at life after receiving his organ donation. The family is so thankful for each one who came, who prayed for us, who called or sent your comforting messages. Your hugs and expressions of love for Kevin and our family meant so much. Words can't express our gratitude to the nurses and doctors who cared for us, not only Kevin but each one of his family members. Kevin's primary nurse, Alexis Belcher was an angel, and each one of the other nurses, including Erwin and Michael were wonderful to our family and made the process so much easier for all of us, as hard decisions had to be made. The LifeLink Foundation was so compassionate with our family as they searched for compatible recipients, allowing Kevin's final act of selflessness.
