Obituary

Kenneth Robert Rench was born on October 3, 1944 in Berwyn, Illinois. He was the 2nd oldest son born to Charles Rench and Irene Skokan. His older brother, Ralph C. Rench, passed on November 23, 2002. He is survived by a brother, Alan D. Rench, and a sister, LaVerne A. Berglund. Kenneth grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. He loved playing baseball when he was young. He always loved having a dog as a pet and many times brought stray animals home hidden under his coat. As a teenager, he grew up listening to ELVIS, who was forever his idol. In 1962, he went into the U.S. Naval Academy in Great Lakes, Illinois. Shortly after that, he married his teenage sweetheart, Pat, and had two sons, Kenneth Jr. and Brandon. After 6 years of marriage, the two divorced each other. Ken had various jobs during these years, but mainly he enjoyed the night life as a bartender at many popular fine restaurants in the Chicago area. Ken remarried in 1971 to Donna, who had 2 young girls from a previous marriage. Ken and Donna never had any children together and were only together a short time. In 1976, Ken moved with his mother, father, and sister to Holiday, Florida. He started bartending at the Pappas-owned Spartan Taverna night club in Tarpon Springs. Within the same year, he decided to return to Illinois to live. In 1977, he met Kris. They got married and had a daughter, Korrine, who was born in 1979. It was during this time, that Ken started his own roofing company, K.R. Roofing. The business was successful and Ken was able to buy his first home. He also bought a boat so he could enjoy fishing off Montrose Harbor in Lake Michigan, one of his favorite past times. In 1984, Ken and Kris were divorced. The years following his divorce, Ken became interested in stock car racing. He began to sponsor many cars that raced at the Santa Fe speedway in Hinsdale, Illinois. In 1992, Ken married Wanda and they had a son, Russell Charles (R.C.), together. During this time, Ken was still running his roofing business but had trouble making money during the winter months. One year, he had taken a fall off a roof and ended up having knee replacement surgery. It took a long time to recover from this surgery, so Ken decided he could not continue any longer with his roofing business. In 2006, Ken moved from Bolingbrook, Illinois to Zephyrhills, Florida. Soon after that he started working at Auto Body Express/CCI. He enjoyed driving and making deliveries, working independently and meeting new people during his work day. Ken was always energetic and hard working. He always appreciated his friends and co-workers. Most of his friends described Kenny as an all-around great guy. He was fun to be with and always would put a smile on people's faces. Kenny will be dearly missed by those who knew him but most of all by me. Kenny always made me feel special as his sister and he will forever hold a special place in my heart.
