Kathleen E. Schwitalla, 84

Kathleen was born in Rockville, MN to the late Norbert & Theresa (Chirhart)
Neis.
She was a 1954 graduate of Cathedral High School in St. Cloud and a
1957 graduate of the College of St. Benedict with a degree in Medical
Technology. Kathleen was a medical technologist for several years in both the
public and private sectors.
She married Norman Schwitalla on October 11, 1958, and raised her family in
Minnesota and Illinois, eventually retiring to Sauk Rapids, MN, where she
spent many wonderful years enjoying family and friends.
Kathleen was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and volunteered
with many organizations over the years.
She enjoyed being involved with the
Cathedral Alumni Association and spending time with her family and friends,
especially her grandchildren, children, and beloved nieces. She loved to play
bingo and to go for long car rides to see the sites. Kathleen loved to travel and
took many trips over the years with her best friend, Joe. In recent years, she
moved to Florida and experienced life on a farm. She particularly enjoyed
watching the cattle and celebrated every time a calf was born. Kathleen had a
wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh.
She was extremely giving to
everyone she knew and loved. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her children Daniel (Suzanne) Schwitalla of Dade City, FL,
and daughter Barbara (David) Doerries of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren
Stanley Schwitalla, Theresa Schwitalla, Mary Clare Doerries, and Elizabeth
Doerries; brother, Robert (Joanne) Neis of St. Louis Park; brother in law,
Robert Neiman of St. Cloud, MN, sister in laws, Mary Neis of St Cloud, MN and
Marcella Schwitalla of St. Cloud, MN and longtime loving companion Joseph
Machtemes.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman, her parents, her
sister Mary Neiman, her brother, Jim Neis, and brother in law, Roger
Schwitalla.
A Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of life will be held in the Spring.
Memorials can be made to Poor Clare Monastery in Sauk Rapids in her honor.
