Obituary

June Marie Verville Slay of Webster, Florida passed away Saturday, February 17th, 2024 at Advent Hospital in Apopka due to complications from surgery and received her new life. She was born August 18th, 1967 to Leon David Verville and Myrtle Green. June was predeceased by her father and two infant brothers. She is survived by her husband, Ronald D. Slay, her mother, Myrtle Green, son Steven Kyle Wilson (Kelly Brisbin} and grandson Steven James Wilson. She is also survived by her stepson Adrian Slay (Kaitlyn) and step grandchildren Macie Anne Slay, Drake Wilton Slay, Lorelei Marie Slay and Dillon Victor Slay. She is also survived by her aunt, Carroll McAllister, to whom she always referred as "Sister," and numerous cousins. June was a beautiful person, inward and outward. She had the voice of an angel. She was a talented quilter and picked up quickly on almost any task she tackled. She was a fantastic cook, as evidenced by the gut on her husband, Ron. She was very organized and she loved to cook a big meal for her family. June was Ron's right hand and soulmate. She could finish his sentences before he could complete the thought. June was a member of Oak Tree Baptist Church in Groveland, Florida. Her faith was solid and she would readily share God's message with friends or complete strangers. Her mornings began with reading her devotional. Then she and Ron would ride around the yard and marvel at God's blessings while playing ball with Sandy Spot, their border collie. She had all the cows in the pasture next door named and would talk to them as if they were her children. Ron and June planted their first garden in 2023. She loved every second she spent working in it. She canned over 300 jars of vegetables and prepared more than 40 pounds of boiled peanuts. June loved children. For several years she volunteered at Webster Elementary School. She especially enjoyed working with the less fortunate kids and would have adopted them all if she could. June was an organ donor and her selfless act has already saved or improved the lives of a number of recipients. We know that we have not lost June. Nothing can be lost when you know where it is. June is in Heaven. The pain of our separation will be exceeded only by the joy of our reunion. Floral arrangements are being accepted, but June would prefer donations be made on her behalf to her favorite charity, the Florida Baptist Children's Home: Home Page - FBCH + One More Child (fbchomes.org) One More Child P.O.
