Judith Ann Higgins (Bergsten), 75, passed away on September 13, 2024, in Zephyr Hills,

Florida. She was a loving sister, friend, wife, mom, and nana.

Judy was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 24, 1948, to Harry and Catherine Bergsten.

She and her older brother Raymond moved to Vero Beach, Florida with their parents when

she was in 8th grade. Judy was an excellent student and formed lifelong friends during her

school years. She was a 1966 graduate of Vero Beach High School.

In her professional life, Judy worked in a variety of administrative roles for different

companies but her most enduring position was with Proctor Construction Company in

Vero Beach. She was employed with them for 29 years where her career grew from

secretarial duties into eventually serving as Vice President.

Judy is predeceased by her mother, father and dear cousin Christina. She leaves behind

her brother Raymond Bergsten, aunt Marie Fetchick, husband John, daughter Lisa

Burnham (Chris), son Michael (Kim), and the five grandchildren she treasured Anabelle,

Brady, Maggie, Sam, and Caroline.

Judy met her husband John when they were in the tenth grade together at VBHS and were

high school sweethearts even being voted Cutest Couple by their classmates. They were

happily married for 55 years. Judy and John spent the early years of their marriage living in

various cities and returned to Vero Beach to raise their children. They relocated to Dade

City, Florida in 2013 and have spent the past 11 years there. Over the course of their life

together they opened each home they occupied to family and friends on all occasions.

Judy never wanted to downsize so that she could continue to fit as many people as

possible under her roof. Another of her biggest joys in life was shopping for her loved ones

and some of the gifts she bought continued to be delivered even after her death.

Ultimately, the gifts her family and friends will cherish most are the memories of time

spent in her company.
