Judith Ann Johnson of San Antonio, Florida, aged 77, passed away at Gulfside Hospice in Zephyrhills on June 17, 2024.
Judy was born March 10, 1947 in Little Falls, Minnesota and was predeceased by her son, Pasco County Deputy Verle Lloyd Johnson, her parents Theodore Andrew Gau and Theresa Anne Litke Gau, five siblings, Leonard Gau, Ramona Preimesberger, Elaine Boros, Jerome Gau, and Jude Gau, Judy is survived by two sisters, Joyce Joyner Harig of San Antonio and Colleen Gau Toney of Ocala, Florida. She also leaves behind her cherished granddaughter Kayla Johnson and two beloved great granddaughters Emma and Immy, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Judy attended Holy Name Academy in Saint Leo, and graduated from Pasco High School, Dade City. She was employed for many years as a Baker at Sweet Bay and Winn-Dixie grocery stores in Dade City where she developed many close relationships with her colleagues and customers.
Judy had a profound love for her Lord, Jesus Christ and for nature and animals. She was an avid bird watcher and took great pleasure in observing birds of all kinds, especially hummingbirds and had a particular interest and love for bald eagles. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and plants and spending time with her numerous pet cats and dogs over her life as well as two very special horses Drifter and Sandbars. She will be missed deeply by Sugar her Chihuahua and Baby her Siamese cat. They were her constant companions in the last eight years of her life.
Judy was a prolific letter writer and over the years kept in touch with numerous family members in Minnesota and friends from Coast Guard stations around the U.S. During the time married to Master Chief Verle Johnson, they enjoyed the Coast Guard life and their travels to Elizabeth City, NC, Clearwater, FL, Kodiak, Alaska, & North Bend, Oregon.
Judy will be remembered for her warm giving heart, her love of nature and the deep connections she made with family and friends throughout her life.
