MCCLAIN, Josephine "Jo Claire", 85, of Zephyrhills, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 2, 2020. She was born on December 23, 1934 in Tampa, FL to parents Charleshugh Hamilton Edwards & Sallie (Ledbetter) Edwards. Jo Claire graduated from Pasco High School in 1953 and obtained her AA degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She was a flight attendant for Capital Airlines before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Joe A. McClain in 1957 in Dade City. They settled in Dade City where Jo Claire was an active member of the community through the Dade City Garden Club, Dade City Women's Club and the Lake Jovita Women's 9-Hole Golf Club. From small dinners with friends to cocktail parties and wedding receptions at her home, she loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess. Jo Claire enjoyed traveling and was always up for an adventure. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was the epitome of Southern grace and elegance. Jo Claire was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, after 58 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters, Melinda McClain, Harriet (Gary) Riddaugh, Nancy (Dennis) Alfonso, Sallie (Bob) Clark, Jan (Shawn) Lowdermilk and Pam (Jamey) Bryant; grandchildren, Andrew and Austin Riddaugh; Alex and India Alfonso; Bailey and Cameron Clark; Alex, Taylor and Lyndsay Lowdermilk and McClain and Nicholas Bryant and great-grandson, Rhyder Bryant. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Hodges Family Funeral Home 301 Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30pm-2pm. Burial will follow at Chapel Hills Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be considered to the Joe A. McClain Memorial Scholarship, Pasco Education Foundation, P.O.
