Joseph (Joe) D. Johnson passed away peacefully at his home on October 31, 2023. Joe was born on February 12, 1947, in Fort Eustis, Virginia to James V. Johnson and Helen (McIntyre) Johnson. James was a captain in the army and as a young boy, Joe lived in Frankfurt Germany and then Taiwan. Joes family retired back to Dade City in 1962. Joe attended Pasco High School, where he loved to play football and graduated in 1964. Joe proudly served his country in the Marine Corps.

For 30+ years, Joe barbered in Dade City and was known as the meanest barber in Pasco County. He also worked as a mail clerk for 15 years. Joe was an avid sportsman who loved to fish, dive, scallop and camp with his family. He was a man who worked hard and loved his family.

Joe was proceeded into death by his parents James and Helen Johnson and his youngest brother Thomas (Tommy) Johnson.

Joe is survived by his wife of 36 years Teresa (Best) Johnson, two sisters, Dale Doyle and Becky Johnson, a sister-in-law Kris Johnson and two brothers Jimmy Johnson (Marcia) and Pat Johnson (Judy), eight children, Michael Johnson (Stacy Alligood), Jason Johnson (Amy), Jeri Lorenzo (Celestino), Mendy Blakenship, Heath Best (Amanda Best), Marissa Thomas (Dylan Olney), Chelsie Johnson (Karin Golden), Manny Johnson, and 14 grandchildren Tristan Johnson, Jordan Hawes, Kellen Hawes, Ashton Denton, Jordan Denton, Joel Lorenzo, CJ Lorenzo, Brandon (Daegan) Clemmons, Julian Lorenzo, Savanna Best, Zayden Best, Kayden Thomas, Calvin Thomas, and Harlan Thomas. And many other extended family and friends. He was loved by all who knew him.

There will be a celebration of life at a future date.
