Joseph Malcolm Green,90, passed from this life to be with our Lord and loved ones on March 14, 2021, at Advent Health in Dade City, Florida with family by his side. Fondly referred to as Gentleman Joe by his friends, and Malcolm by his loved ones, he was born in Troy, Alabama, June 4, 1930, son of the late James Malcolm Green and Siddie Renfroe Green. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne Green, daughter Deborah Ann Knowles, grandson Derek Stone, four brothers, L. N. Green, Leon Green, Howard Green, Cecil Green and three sisters, Jewel Kelly, Margaret Fowler and Shirley LeJune
Survivors include his sons Joseph J. Green (Tina), Gary M. Green. Daughters Kathie Wand (Ken), Jacqueline Wright (Rick); 6 grandchildren, Zane Dickins, Marshall Wand, Gary Green Jr, Austin Stone, and Caleb Wright who are from Jacksonville, Fl. His brothers Ledon Green (Regina), and Eddie Green from Macon, Ga. Sister Annette Lomenick (Jim), from Atlanta, Ga.
He was reared in Columbus, Ga. He served in the Army during the Korean war and the Navy during the Vietnam war. He was a very proud retired veteran who loved his country. After his final retirement from being a security officer at US Army Ft. Benning, he went on to travel with his wife doing host camping before eventually settling down in Dade City, Florida. In the spring of 2017, he joined The Edwinola retirement community where he enjoyed fellowship with the residents there, family visits, excursions, chef-prepared dinners, and many holiday celebrations. Some of the many things he preferred were the Lord, church, music, dancing, fellowship, long-distance driving, woodworking, playing cards, shuffleboard, coin collecting, fried catfish, and vanilla ice cream.
Joe will be remembered for his infectious smile, friendly and courteous manner, gentle spirit, and kind heart. He is loved by many and will be missed by all.
The family will gather for the military honors ceremony and a Pastoral officiant from his beloved church, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Monday, March 29 from 10:30-11:00 am.
