Bankowski, Joseph Stephan of Dade City, passed away at his home June 15, 2018 after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife Cynthia, soon to be of 40 years on June 24; his daughters Alexis (Michael) Maurino, Lara (John) Burer, and son Joseph (Elise) Bankowski. Grandchildren Ella, Evan, Julia, Max, Charlie, and Kate. His mother Helen Shamma preceded him in death. His career was spent as an automotive engineer in Michigan. After retiring, he volunteered at Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 2004, Joe and his wife moved to Florida. He felt he had too much time on his hands so he began working part time at Busch Gardens. In recent years he enjoyed building many Lego architectural structures, reading, and painting. The family would like to thank the many nurses from Tampa General Hospital 6K, BayCare Home Care, and Gulfside Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. The visitation will be Saturday June 23, 2018 at 12:30pm with the funeral mass to follow at 1:00 pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 301 Chapel Dade City. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
