Joseph Nathaniel Ammons was born January 21, 1948 in Dade City, Florida to the late William Ammons and Victoria Barrington. He graduated from Mickens High School and served in the US Navy. Joseph was assigned to the USS Springfield and was honorably discharged October 31,1969.
Joseph was a faithful and loyal member of Mt. Zion AME Church. He departed this life peacefully on November 11, 2022 at UF Health Hospital in Leesburg, Florida. He is preceded in death by his brother John Ammons, and his sisters Marie C. Brown, Earleane Ammons Morgan, and Annie Nelson. He leaves to cherish his memories sister Eathleane Happy Horton, brother William Ammons, sister JoeAnn Lewis, true friend Ernest Abner (Liz) and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Our life on Earth is a journey not a destination.
Joseph left us happy memories. His love is still our guide, although we cannot see him, he is always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
A Graveside service is Military Honors is scheduled for Friday, December 30, 2022, at 1:30pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Please keep in mind to arrive about 30 minutes prior to scheduled time.
