Jose Louise Mares-Ruiz, 67, of Dade City, FL, passed away in Tampa, FL, on July 17, 2024. Jose was born to parents Carmen Mares Arellano and Francisca Ruiz Mares on November 27, 1956, in Matamoros Tamaulipas, Mexico. He grew up with siblings Eugenia M. Gallegos, Maria Luisa Quinones, Juana Maria Garcia, Juana Alicia Mares, Dora M. Mares-Aboytes, and Tomas Mares Ruiz. Jose worked in agriculture as a truck driver, worked for Treemart for many years, and was a mechanic. He received a CDL and a Security Guard Certificate. He went to school until the sixth grade. Jose married Nicolasa Torres in Dade City. He loved fishing, and watching Western movies. He was quite the handyman as he would fix anything that stopped working. Jose loved animals, but most of all he loved his nieces and nephews. Jose is survived by his Wife, Nicolasa Torres, and Sons, Luis Diego Mares Torres and Carmelo Jose Mares. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 5-7 pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. A Mass is being held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 11 am at St. Rita's Catholic Church, with the burial immediately to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.
