Jon Fletcher Stephenson, 76, of Zephyrhills, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Jon was born in Zephyrhills to John F. and Myrtie Stephenson on March 22, 1947.

Jon served in the U.S. Army 87th Engineer Battalion 1968-1972. He received a Purple Heart when he was wounded in action in Viet Nam. He also was the recipient of 2 Bronze stars and the Medal of Valor. After returning home, he transitioned into the U.S. Post Office and later served 20 years as a police officer for the Dade City Police Department.

Jon leaves behind him two grandsons, Scott Crager (Carie) of Hurricane, Utah and William Bradley Gallion (Amanda) of Fairbanks, Alaska, five grandchildren, Makayla Crager of Winnemucca, Nevada, Carson and Natalie Crager of Hurricane, Utah, Jamison and William Gallion of Fairbanks, Alaska, two nieces, Laurie Mitchell of Gainesville, FL and Cheryl Long (Raymond) of Tampa, FL and two nephews, Martin Dukes (Lola) of Zephyrhills, FL and Robert Byrd (Kathy) of Plant City, FL.

In his day, Jon enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking, visiting with friends and family.

A military funeral honors ceremony will be held graveside in Oakside Cemetery on Friday, July 7th at 11:00 a.m.
