John C White passed away peacefully August 27, 2014 at the Gulfside Regional Hospice Center of Zephyrhills, Florida.John was born in Portland, Maine on December 2, 1931 to Winfield S. and Edith M. (Smith) White and educated in Portland and South Portland schools. He served several years with the Maine National Guard as a radar operator.His unit (BTRY A 703rd Gun Battalion) was called into active Army service from 1950 until 1952 where he proudly attained the rank of Sergeant. Mr. White worked for Oakhurst Dairy as a home route salesman for 23 years. He then went to work for the Greater Portland Transit District for 8 years, before retiring. John was pre-deceased by his parents, as well as his brothers Richard, Kenneth and Robert.He was also pre-deceased by wives Mary (Roberts - Libby) Natalie (Jamison) White and later by Harriet (Arsenault) White.He is survived by his sisters, Janet Ellsworth of Augusta, GA. And Ruth Dobson (and husband Ernest) of Hopkinton, NH.He is also survived by his children Randall (and wife Sue) of Wichita, KS - Allan (and wife Patricia) of Levant, Me - Diane White of South Portland, Me - Richard White (and wife Marina) and John T White (and spouse Denise) all of old Orchard Beach, Me as well as 8 grandchildren, one great grand daughter and several nieces and nephews. At his request, there will be no services.The family wishes to thank the people of the hospice center, as well as the people of Pretty Pond Manor for their kindness and loving care, allowing John to pass in comfort, dignity and grace.
