John Edgar (John Ed) Melton V, 37, passed away at his home on July 11, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife, Candice Surratt Melton, and 3-year-old son, John E. (Jed) Melton VI; parents, Laura and John E. (Johnny) Melton IV; sisters, Emily (Jeremy) Poe; Julie (Justin) White; brother, Trent Melton; grandfather, Billy E. (Sandy) Brown; niece, Bailey Poe; nephews, Briar Poe; Jack and Jake White; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Anne Brown; paternal grandparents, Virginia and John E. (Jack) Melton III.

John Ed was born in Tampa, FL, and grew up in Dade City where he attended school and worked for his familys farming business. He was a loving husband and a proud, devoted father to Jed. Known far and wide for his hugs, sense of humor, and storytelling, John Ed loved to make other people happy. As an avid sportsman, John Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his family and friends. John Ed's personality was larger than life itself. The memories of him and the great love he had for his family and friends will live on in those that loved him.

On Sunday, July 18, at the Waller Ranch (17307 Powerline Rd., Dade City) there will be a visitation with the family beginning at noon. The celebration of life begins at 1:00 p.m., and is followed by a catered meal. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or those that wish may make donations in his memory to the educational fund for Jed Melton at the Suncoast Credit Union in Dade City.
