Troy, John R. John was born in Paterson, NJ. on December 3, 1932, the son of John and Rose Troy. John passed peacefully in his sleep on December 26, 2012, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris, his sisters Kathy Rinaldi and Mary Probst, his three children Laura Troy, Jamie Troy and Rebecca Kalakota, and four grandchildren Emily Grabowsky, Anya Kalakota, Chetan Kalakota, and Jaden Troy. John studied art in New York City and taught humor and cartooning in the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in Dover, NJ. He was an avid fisherman and taught fly fishing for the Orvis Company. Along the way he held positions in various art-related fields but focused on cartooning in 1981, authoring sixteen books of cartoons since that time. His books are known internationally. A memorial will be held on Sunday, January 13th at his home, 11812 Chesterfield Rd, Dade City, FL 33525 between 1pm and 3pm for family and friends. His family has requested any donations to be given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research, www.michaeljfox.org.
