John Francis Risdon age 87, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Wednesday, June 12th, 2024.
John was born in Washington, DC to parents Lois and Walter Risdon. He was the beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" Ann Boteler, who preceded him in death, and a devoted father, brother, grandfather and friend.
John grew up in Maryland and at the age of 18 he joined the FBI as a finger print clerk. He worked his way through night school to earn an accounting degree, and eventually attended the FBI Academy to become an agent. At 19, he married the love of his life, Peggy, whom he had known since he was 13. Together they raised four children. Johns illustrious career took them to many different places, including Ohio, New York, Virginia and Florida.
Upon his retirement after 32 years at the FBI, John and Peggy moved to Punta Gorda, Florida. While there they both became avid golfers and enjoyed many years on the golf course with friends and family. They were active church members and were also volunteers for Hospice, sitting with patients as well as assisting with food preparation. Shortly after Hurricane Charlie they relocated to Dade City, Florida, where they continued pursuing their interests in golf and volunteering.
In addition to playing golf, John had many other interests throughout life including flying radio controlled airplanes, fishing, boating, and playing the violin. He had a keen interest in genealogy, and was able to trace back his family tree several generations. He eventually wrote a book for his children about their ancestors, which will be cherished for years to come.
Above all, John enjoyed spending time with his family. He leaves behind his children Pamela (John), John (Diane), Kenneth (Beth), Jennifer (Dave), grandchildren Lindsey, Emily, J.J., Kevin, Sam, Emma, Gavin, Owen, and great-grandchildren, Keoni, Carson, Alana, and Noah, as well as three sisters - Donna Ball, Linda Cook and Tammy Waltsman.
