John Lincoln Rio

John Lincoln Rio, 82, of Dade City, FL passed away peacefully at the home of his son surrounded by friends and family on Dec. 16, 2023. He was born in Wauchula, FL in 1941 to Daniel and Esther Rio.

He was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather who was very active and involved in family life. As a father, he was involved in Hernando Youth League sports as both a sponsor and a coach. As his children grew, he was a strong supporter of Hernando High School sports following volleyball, cross country, track, football, baseball and basketball. He made a point of attending dance recitals, football, baseball and softball games in support of his grandchildren. He enjoyed family gatherings including organizing a weekly family dinner that was always full of fun and laughter. In addition to his family, Johns interests included fishing, boating and traveling. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the fraternal organization of Shriners.

John was a 1960 graduate of Jefferson High School where he lettered in football, basketball and track. After high school, John attended St. Petersburgh Jr. College prior to being accepted into the Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship where he graduated in 1969. Johns professional life included being a steamfitter out of Local 624 Tampa, Apprenticeship Coordinator for Local 624, Business Agent for Local 624 and Business Manager for Local 624.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Rio of Floral City and his son John H. Rio of Dade City, as well as three grandsons, two granddaughters and three great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, his mother, sister Evelyn, brothers Daniel and Gene.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 10:00 am at Spring Lake Cemetery 26525 Ernest Lee Rd, Brooksville, FL 34602.
