IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Wayne
Peele
July 25, 1946 – May 25, 2021
John Wayne Peele age 74 left this earth on May 25, 2021, after a fierce battle with COVID. Attempting to summarize his life and all that he meant to so many is nearly impossible, but we shall try.John Wayne was born in Washington, NC on July 25, 1946, to Rebecca Leggett Roberson and William Bryant Peele. He was the brother of Bill Peele, Larry Peele (deceased), and Charlie Peele. He attended and graduated from Bear Grass High School. After graduation, he moved to Dade City Florida and began his lifelong service with the USDA Inspectors Service. He was drafted into the Army in 1969 and faithfully served his country during the Vietnam conflict. In addition to his work with USDA for 45 years, he joined Richter & Co. where he was a faithful employee for the last 40 years. He was a beloved father to Anthony Wayne (Peele) Bryant and Joanne Michele (Peele) Turner and Grandfather of Brandon Turner, Jacob Turner, and Rebekah Turner. John Wayne (Peaches as his friends in McBee, SC called him) was a loyal friend to hundreds of people that we can not begin to name here but know without a doubt, that you all were his life and made him incredibly happy. To say that he will be missed is an incredible understatement, in truth he has left us all with a gaping hole that will not soon heal. His life is a testament to the value of community, and it is to you all, his community that we wish to extend our deepest appreciation for your love and care for him and for us.There will be a gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from 10 am to 11 am. The funeral services will begin at 11 am followed by burial at Florida National Cemetery at 1 pm. Arrangements by Hodges Family Funeral Home, 301 Chapel, Dade City Fl.
