John "Johnny" Bernie McKendree passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, at his home in San Antonio. Johnny was born June 28, 1945, the son of a Pasco pioneer family, the late Roland "Snooks"; Edward McKendree and Arcie Croft McKendree of Pasco Station. Johnny was owner and operator of McKendree Fence. He was a Catholic. He loved fishing, golf, animals, and his family. He was well known for lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Johnny never met a stranger and was quick to offer a joke or two. He will be missed by his large San Antonio community of friends and family. He is survived by his wife and life-long partner, Virginia Greif McKendree, San Antonio; three children, John "Bernie" McKendree II, Zephyrhills; Mark Gregory McKendree, San Antonio; and Kelly Catherine McKendree, Corona, CA; a sister, Sherri McKendree, Dade City; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janet McKendree. A visitation will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church, San Antonio on Tuesday August 4th at 6:00, with a rosary service at 7:00. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday August 6th at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 10:00. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories.
