John (Doug) Douglas HruzaAugust, 1942 - July 29, 2018Doug Hruza, age 75, of Dade City, FL, died on Sunday, July 29, 2018 in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was born in Central City, Nebraska to John C. Hruza and Mylda Hruza in August, 1942. He graduated from Central City High School in Nebraska in 1960 and then went on to Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE, where he graduated in 1965 with a major in Physical Education and a Minor in Religion. Doug excelled as a member of the golf team in high school and in college, learning at an early age from his father.After graduating, he lived and worked in California until Uncle Sam called for him to go to Vietnam. Doug served his country his entire career as an active service member and then in the Army Reserves prior to working as a civilian for the US Military Personnel Command. Doug retired in August 2002. Doug and his wife, Louise, moved to Dade City Florida in 2010, to be closer to friends and family. He enjoyed many wonderful times with his family. He was an avid golfer, a passionate American, and a die-hard Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. Part of his heart had always been in his hometown of Central City and anyone who met him definitely knew is love for Nebraska.Doug is survived by his wife of 39 years, Louise Hruza; his children, Whitney Tinius and her husband Paul, Meredith Rogers and her husband Randy, and Christina Moore; his six grandchildren; Kyle & Courtney Tinius, Hayden & Victoria Moore, Ryan & Lauren Rogers; his sister Janet Larsen and her children, Robin, Mitch & Hollie, their spouses, Steve, Joyce and Jeff; and her grandchildren, Matthew, Shelby, Katelyn and Lindsey. Doug was preceded in death by his beloved parents and brother-in-law, Orvis Larsen.A Celebration of Life will be held at First Methodist Church in Dade City on Thursday, August 2nd, at 1pm and final interment with full military honors to be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC, at a later date.In lieu of flowers, and in honor of his membership and continued support of the American Legion, memorial contributions can be made to American Legion Baseball, attn.
