Hoffman, John D., 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 17, 2012. He was born on September 2, 1923, in Sandy Lake, PA. He graduated from Sandy Lake High School and from the Institute of Biblical Studies, Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA. He was a decorated WWII veteran and made the Air Force his career. Mr. Hoffman loved the Lord and was a member of Frederica Baptist Church, St. Simons Island, GA. He was a charter member and served as deacon in several other Baptist churches throughout the US, including Alaska. He was a loving father and friend to many. May he rest in eternal peace in his heavenly home. John is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and his wife of 66 years, Marguerite. He is survived by his daughters; Doris (Don) Haynes, of Mount Juliet, TN, Susan Reeves, of St. Simons Island, GA; 4 grandchildren; Kevin (Carrie) Alexander, Christa Haynes, Tim (Katie) Alexander, Rebecca (Warren) Schaffer; and 7 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 1pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home, Hwy 301, Dade City, Fl. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Frederica Baptist Church, St. Simons Island at 2pm.
