John H. Gassler, 92, of Dade City, FL passed away Thursday December 22, 2022 in Dade City, FL. He was born February 2, 1930 in Jacksonville, FL to John & Florence (Lubinski) Gassler and moved to this area 13 years ago from Islamorada, FL.
He graduated from St. Leo Prep School in 1947 and went on to Georgia Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He attended St. Leo Abbey Church. Mr. Gassler was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the East Pasco Amateur Radio Society.
He is survived by his 9 children: John H. Gassler, III (Ellen), Murfreesboro, TN, James L. Gassler (Laura), Georgetown, SC, Joseph P. Gassler (Lorie), North Las Vegas, NV, Maureen A. Nokes (Jeffery), Smithville, TN, Marie C. Evans (David), Decatur, TX, Therese M. Reid (Jeffery), Wellborn, FL, Paul T. Gassler (Caryl), Shawnee, KS, Mary N. Bunch (John), Albuquerque, NM, Christopher J. Gassler (Lori), Yaound, Cameroon, son-in-law Miles Drenth, Seminole, FL, and also survived by 26 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Marie T. Gassler, his daughter Mary K. Drenth, and grandchildren Kathrine G. Bunch and David Gassler.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday December 31, 2022 at St. Leo Abbey. The family will receive friends for viewing from 6-8 pm Friday evening at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in his memory to St. Leo Abbey Church.
