John M. Blevins, 75, of Zephyrhills, Florida passed away on March 15th, 2024 at Tampa General Hospital from injuries of a catastrophic fall at home. John was born April 5th, 1948 in Lejunior, Kentucky to Dan and Lucy (Hubbs) Blevins. He lived in Kentucky for four years until his parents moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he grew up. He attended Colerain Highschool, where he played for the football team and the baseball team. John tried out for the Cincinnati Reds but unfortunately injured his arm and could not be recruited. John joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was disabled years later from Agent Orange and was ruled as totally disabled in 2008. John was an over the road truck driver for over 30 years. He grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and owned homes in Akron, Colerain, and Hartwell, Ohio before retyring to Zephyrhills, Florida in 2016. John really enjoyed playing games on the computer and his phone, he liked card games like Euchre and Hearts. He also enjoyed watching westerns on tv and reading books. He liked going the clubs and was Commander of the American Legion in Reading, Ohio for two terms, he was also a life long member of the VFW and the AmVets. John was a member of the Moose and Elks in Zephyrhills, Florida, he was also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and loved playing fantasy football. John was married to Joice Anne (Hammond) Blevins on May 28th, 2011 in Reading, Ohio, before moving to Zephyrhills, Florida in 2016. He had 6 children; Brigitte (Clayton) Jennings, Melissa (Ickes)(Jeffrey) Lorren, Michael (Diana) DiPalma, Lucinda (Timmy) (Wesserman) Blevins, Patricia (Tom) Robison, and John Michael Blevins II. Grandchildren include; Hannah Ruth, Taylor, Lauren, Courtney, Thomas, Hannah Elizabeth, Molly, Gunnar, Rachel, John III, Casey, and Aly. Great Grandchildren; Kinsley, Odin, and Oliva. Siblings; Dalton (Kirstin) Fee, Janice Bang, Nan Horton-Blevins, Daniel Blevins, and Ed Blevins. John is loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousin. John is preceded in death by his parents; Dan Blevins (2007), Lucy Blevins (2008) and his brothers; James (2018) and Paul. There is a memorial service for John on Saturday May 4th, 2024 at 11:00 am, at Zephyrhills Christian Church where he was an active member, 5940 Dogwood Street (corner of 23rd and North Street) Zephyrhills, Florida 33542. Luncheon to follow at 12:00 PM Interment will be held on Monday May 6th, 2024 at 10:00 am, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
