Obituary

John Wells Ballou Sr., 72, of Dade City, Florida went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2021. John was born in Nevada, Missouri June 3, 1948, and raised in Lees Summit, Missouri. At the age of 17, John joined the United States Navy and served in the Security Forces for the "SEABEE" Naval Construction Battalion. He was Honorably Discharged on April 23, 1969, after serving two tours in Vietnam earning National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars, Fleet Marine Combat Operations Insignia, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. When he returned home he met and married his wife Diane. John and Diane had three boys, John Jr., Michael, and Steven. John worked for AT&T and retired after 33 years. He was a First Line Construction Manager for the Kansas City Area. After John retired, John and his wife moved to North Kansas City. John loved to work in his yard using his John Deere riding lawnmower. John was very involved in each of his sons sports. He was a proud father who coached while teaching and encouraging his sons to do their best. Two years ago John and Diane moved to Dade City, Florida where they could enjoy the great Florida weather. John is preceded in death by his parents; William P. and Mary Ballou, sister, Beverly Ballou, and a nephew Rodney Gerke. John is survived by his wife: Diane of 50 years and their sons, John, his wife Anna, their children: Chantel, Sadie, Luke, and Aiden; their son Michael; their son Steven, his wife Heather, their children: Faith, Trinity, Eli, Zeke, Grace, Titus, Joy, Silas and Hope. A service will be held at Fort Leavenworth Cemetery in Kansas on June 18, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. with military honors.
