May 3, 1958 – January 16, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joel Charles Knickerbocker, a devoted husband and loving father, on January 16, 2025, at the age of 66. Joel leaves behind his beloved wife, Debbie Knickerbocker, and their cherished children, Nichole Hallock and her husband Bobby Hallock, Kelly Begy and her husband Bruce Begy, and Nicholas Knickerbocker and his wife Bess Knickerbocker. He was also the proud grandfather to five grandchildren, Briallen, Scarlett, Johnny, Violet, and Sophia, who brought him immense joy.
Joel was a cherished brother, and is survived by his siblings: Jeff and his wife Holly, Jim and his wife Lorre, and Julie and her husband Mike. He is predeceased by his parents, Jan and John Knickerbocker, and his niece, Lauren Knickerbocker. We know he is grateful to be joined once again with them. He carried their memories with him throughout his life.
Joel graduated from Ithaca College in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. His career began for a brief time in West Virginia before he settled in Florida, where he lived for the remainder of his life. In 1986, Joel opened his own practice, and in 1991, he founded Pasco Rehabilitation, a business that touched countless lives over the last 33 years.
Joel was a cherished member of his community, and his dedication to helping others was unwavering. He volunteered with the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club, The Rotary Club, and Pasco County youth sports, always giving his time to support and uplift others. Outside of work, Joel was an avid golfer, finding tranquility on the course. Most of all, he treasured spending quality time with his family.
Joel leaves behind a legacy of humor, kindness, compassion, and devotion to the service of others. His warm spirit, contagious laugh, generous heart, and deep love for his family will forever be remembered by all who knew him. Joel lived his life in the present moment, and he enjoyed being with and helping people most of all. His memory will carry the spirit of his life forward, continuing to inspire all who were privileged to know him.
