JoAnn Wilks, 85, of Dade City, Florida passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023. She was born in Spring Creek, Georgia on February 4, 1938, to Willis and Bedia Braswell. She attended Carrabelle High School. JoAnn retired as the director of Wesley Creative School. JoAnn and James married on August 4, 1956, and spent 57 years together. They built a beautiful family with their children: Becky Hinson, Debbie Hinsz, Mickey Wilks, Wendy Lane, and Kevin Wilks. She enjoyed watching softball, taking care of children, and spending time with Jesus. She loved her family and proudly wore the title of "Best mom and meme ever". JoAnn is preceded in death by her late husband: James Wilks; parents Willis and Bedia; grandchild: Colin Jahns; Siblings: Dixie, Marvin, Bobby, Willis, Gloria Jean, and Ruth. JoAnn is survived by her children: Becky Hinson, Debbie Hinsz, Mickey Wilks (Robin), Wendy Lane (Randy), and Kevin Wilks; grandchildren: Jeremy, Jessica, Jason, Jed, Jesse, Jeffery, Jackie, Jordan, Brad, Kaela, Kathleen, and Myka; great-grandchildren: Ozzy, Teddy, Ayrton, Joy, Brady, Owen; her best friend: Edna Darsey; and her beloved baby dog: Boomer. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida. A time of visitation will take place prior to services from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow services at Floral Memory Gardens in Dade City, Florida.
