It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Zeranski Thompson, a beloved mother, friend, and community member. Joan peacefully departed this world on Monday, January 27th, 2025, at the age of 69, in Dade City, Florida.

Joan was born on Friday, September 9th, 1955, in Elkton, Maryland, to her loving parents, Edmond and Bertha Zeranski. She grew up with a strong sense of family values and a passion for helping others, qualities that she carried throughout her life.

Joan dedicated many years of her professional life working for Otto Weitzenkorn, where she was known for her commitment and hard work. Outside of her career, Joan was an active member of her community and cherished the simple joys of life. She had a particular fondness for puzzles and crafts, and her love for sunflowers was well-known among her friends and family. Joan was an outgoing woman who always put others before herself, spreading kindness and warmth wherever she went. She also loved to take care of her beloved cat and faithful companion, Boots.

She is survived by her devoted son, Scott (Katie) Thompson, who she loved dearly and who was the center of her world. Joan's legacy of love, generosity, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City on Friday, January 31st, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Joan's life will follow at 1:00 pm at the same location with the burial immediately after at Floral Memory Gardens.

Joan Zeranski Thompson will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
