IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan C.
Kolb
December 2, 1944 – November 27, 2024
Joan C. Kolb, age 79, of Wesley Chapel, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, at the Rucki Hospice Care Center in Zephyrhills, Florida. Her passing marks the close of a life filled with love, devotion, and joy.
Born on December 2, 1944, in Queens, New York, Joan was the daughter of Peter and Catherine Froehlich. She grew up in Massapequa, New York, where she resided in her childhood home until relocating to Wesley Chapel in 2012. Joan's life was beautifully intertwined with that of James F. Kolb, her husband and soulmate, whom she first met at just three days old. They married on July 2, 1966, and shared 42 wonderful years together until Jim's passing in 2008.
Joan was a devoted mother to her two children, Joann (Kolb) Scherff (John Scherff Jr.) and James (Jimmy) M. Kolb. Her love for her family was unwavering and boundless. She dedicated herself fully to their happiness, retiring early from her role as a Data Review Technician for Social Security to care for her son. Joan found joy in her work, speaking fondly of the satisfaction she derived from helping others, but her family was always her greatest priority.
Joan's life was enriched by her many passions. She had a gift for crafting and cherished her time creating with her church craft group, especially for holiday fairs. She delighted in solving Sudoku puzzles, often enjoying the Florida sunshine as she worked on them. A spirited wrestling fan, Joan loved both watching matches on TV and attending events in person, finding humor and stress relief in her enthusiastic commentary.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Catherine Froehlich, and her beloved husband, Jim. She leaves behind her loving children, Joann (John) Scherff and Jimmy Kolb, as well as the countless friends and family members whose lives she touched with her kindness and humor.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a service at 3:00 p.m., at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Zephyrhills.
Joan's warmth, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
