Jerry Douglas Lane, 74 of Zephyrhills, passed at 7:30 PM September 21st surrounded by family and friends at the Gulfside Center for Hospice Care in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was born in Anderson, South Carolina on August 17, 1941 to Otis and Mary Lane. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Linda Joyce Lane. Also surviving are his two sons, Alan Lane of Valrico and Dave Lane of Lake Bluff, Illinois, his step son Jim Stringfield, daughter in laws Emily Lane, Tuwanna Lane and Nancy Stringfield, grandchildren Ethan, Joshua, Sophia and Alyssa Lane, Lauren and Nathan Stringfield, his sister Betty Sue Calo, Nieces and Nephews to include John, Laura, Nicki, Kristin Kuntz, Mike, Drannon and Brandon Lane, Stephanie Nelsen, Cindy Andrews, Melissa Calo and several cousins and a loving group of family and friends. Preceding him in death were Jerry's Father Otis Baxter Lane, mother Mary Lane Brengle, step father John Brengle, brothers Gregory and Philip Lane. Jerry was a long time resident of Zephyrhills where he lived in the house he built at what became our families peaceful, country haven for over 30 years. He joined and proudly served in the Marine Corps in 1961. He enjoyed a life long career in construction/concrete sales. He loved being around people and took tremendous joy in annual gatherings at the Limetree Resort in Lido Key Florida for 33 years. In retirement he was delighted to find another warm family that brought him tremendous joy when he joined the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2276 in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was greatly loved and loved many of those he knew. A memorial service will be held this Friday September 25th at the Limona Village Chapel at 408 Limona Road in Brandon, Florida at 2:30 in the afternoon. There will be a reception in Zephyrhills, Florida following the ceremony. In leiu of flowers donations can be made to the Loyal Order of Moose at 3211 Gall Boulevard, Zephyrhills, FL 33541.
