Jeannette Therrien Gordon passed away on Feb. 7, 2019.
She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on Dec. 8, 1932, to Maria and Louis Therrien. Jeannette grew up in a loving family of three sisters and two brothers. They lived in a community of French Canadians. French was the language that was spoken in their home.
Jeannette attended St. Anne Catholic Schools through grade school and high school.
She went on to St. Joseph Catholic School of Nursing. She graduated from St. Joseph and worked as a registered nurse in many capacities and many locations throughout her lifetime. Nursing was her passion! She was very dedicated to her patients.
It was while she was working as a RN in Boston that Jeannette met the love of her life, John Gordon. John was in Charlestown, Massachusetts, where he was stationed with the U.S. Navy. They were instantly soul mates and were married on April 16, 1955, in Massachusetts. To this union, four children were born. He preceded her in death Nov. 23, 2010.
John and Jeannette moved to Roscoe in 1956, Johns hometown. They lived in Roscoe, Milford and Seward, and then moved to Ogallala until retirement. At that time, they moved to Zephyrhills, Florida. They very much enjoyed the community in Zephyrhills for many years and made many wonderful friends.
They traveled whenever possible. Jeannette had been on 12 cruises, including trips to Italy, Spain and the Mediterranean.
Jeannette was very dedicated to her Catholic faith her entire life. Her Zephyrhills community will have a special funeral Mass for her at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at St. Joseph Church in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, John; her son Keith on May 24, 1992; an infant daughter, Katrina Marie (born Jan. 11, 1957); one step-granddaughter; her parents; her sisters, June Therrien and Lillianne Smith; multiple nieces and nephews; Johns parents; three of Johns sisters; one of Johns brothers; a special sister-in-law, Sharon Gordon; and three brothers-in-law.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Gordon of Omaha; son Kevin (Lenora) of North Platte; granddaughter Makala of Lincoln; three great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Therrien of Richmond, Virginia, and Joe Therrien of Zephyrhills, Florida; one sister, Dot Madden of Andover, Massachusetts, and Zephyrhills, Florida; two brothers-in-law, Clifford (Marie) Gordon and Alfred Gordon of North Platte; four sisters-in law, Evelyn Frosh (special friend, Terry Wilkerson), JoAnn (Jerry) Perlinger of North Platte, Shirley (Ron) Ziegler and Marilyn (Roger) Dahlkoetter of Ogallala and Darlene (Dale) Elder of Aurora; and a very special friend from Zephyrhills, Anne Cunningham.
Memorials are to several charities of the familys choice.
Graveside services will be at at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, with the Rev. Vidya Sagar Arikotla of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, North Platte, officiating. Inurnment will be alongside Jeannettes husband, John. Lunch will follow at Holy Spirit Catholic ChurchVisits: 0
