Obituary

Jeanne Leona Turney, 76, Zephyrhills, FL died peacefully on Wednesday, February 28th at Solaris Healthcare of Zephyrhills, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimers and Dementia.

Mrs. Turney was born in the town of Sodus, NY on July 11, 1947. She was the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth Flynn. She would live in Wolcott until relocating to Auburn, NY in 1976. She spent her early years helping on the family farm, where she particularly enjoyed caring for the baby animals, and drinking fresh milk out of a special silver cup. Later in life, she would enjoy Sunday dinners with her extended family, playing cards with friends, and traveling. Some of her favorite destinations were Graceland TN to see the Birthplace of Elvis Presley, Las Vegas NV to see Wayne Newton sing, and Japan to visit family. She worked at Muldoon Cleaners, Mercy Rehabilitation and Big Lots in Auburn, before moving to Zephyrhills in 2004 to begin retirement. Here she would enjoy further travel, joining friends on bus trips, being part of the Red Hat Society, serving at New Walk Church, and frequenting local festivals to listen to live music. She was particularly fond of country-western music.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, John Turney Jr.; two sons, Robert Ronald Lancy (Yumiko), currently of Guam, and Jay Patrick Lancy (Bronwyn) of Zephyrhills; Grandchildren Joshua Lancy, Emily Vannais-Jackson, Jessica Lancy-Johnston (Tanner) Emily Gray, Cody Reagan, Isabella Lancy, Nicholas Lancy, Noah Lancy; two Great Grandsons, Conner and Cameron ; three Great Grand-Daughters, Briella, Aurora, and Paisley, as well as one sister, Laurie Flynn of Wolcott, NY and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Buddy, who was a great comfort to her as her health declined. Jeanne was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Elizabeth Flynn; two brothers Edward Flynn and Patrick Flynn (Anna); and two sisters, Judy Flynn and Michelle Flynn.

Per her requests, there will be no calling hours or memorial services for Mrs. Turney.
