PETERSON, Jean Patricia 91 formerly of San Antonio FL died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in St. Petersburg. Jean was born in Chicago, IL to the late Francis & Myrtle (Bebo) Cosgriff. Jean and family moved to San Antonio, FL in 1968 from Fargo, ND, when husband Bob became head of the Science and Math division at St. Leo College. She was a resident here until 1992 when she moved to Titusville, FL and later 2015 she moved to St. Petersburg, FL. Jean was a member of St. Anthonys Parish in Fargo, ND, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in San Antonio, FL and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Cocoa, FL. She was active in the Democratic Party in Fargo, ND, campaigning for John F. Kennedy in 1960, was a member of the San Antonio Garden Club, Saint Leo Womens Club, Saint Leo City Commission and the Democratic Women of Brevard County. During WWII she worked as a crane operator assembling military tanks and after raising her family was employed at Saint Anthony's school in San Antonio. Jean was known for her quick Irish wit and her passion for life. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dr. Robert H. Peterson and her sisters Betty and Eileen. She is survived by her eight children: John (Virginia) Peterson of Juneau, AK, Barbara Ervin of St. Petersburg, FL, Tom (Madeline Beaumont) Peterson of Dade City, FL, William (Sonia) of Nampa, ID, Mary (John) Hummerick of Titusville, FL, Eileen (Kent) Braziel of Santa Fe, NM, Robert (Kelly) Peterson of Greenwich, CT and Paul Peterson of Westborough, MA. 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be said at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Jean will be laid to rest with her husband at Garden of Memory Cemetery in San Antonio at a later date.
