John "Jay" McCarty, 62, of Dade City, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019. John "Jay" was born on March 12, 1957, Jay moved from Alabama to Florida as a young boy with his parents, Brit and Katy McCarty and older brother, Ric. He was a lifelong resident of Dade City, Florida. Jay was originally a truck driver, then went to work for CF Industries and then transitioned to an inventory specialist for Mosaic. Jay was an avid Florida Gator fan and would often compete in BBQ competitions. He loved to grill, boat and be a Poppa to his 5 grandchildren. Jay was a social butterfly and never met a stranger. He was loved by all. "Jay" McCarty is survived by his wife; Sheryll McCarty, son; Jimmie McCarty, daughter in law; Kara McCarty, daughter Brittney Gough, son in law; Allen Gough, brother; Ric McCarty and grandkids; Hank and Waylon Gough, Brady, Josie, and Judd McCarty. There will be a memorial service on Friday, November 8, 2019, from 5-7 pm at First Baptist Church Dade City. Arrangements by Hodges Family Funeral Home, 301 Chapel Dade City, FL.
