STEPHENS, James Hugh, age 86, graduated to his homecoming to be with the Lord on Friday, December 2, 2022. James was born in Tampa, FL on February 22, 1936 to William Edward & Foye Stephens.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janie M. Stephens. They set a beautiful example of a Christian marriage for many people, but especially their family; their daughters: Andrea (Matt) Vogel and Angela (Matt) Woodham; grandchildren:, Hope Vogel, Tyler (Suzanne) Vogel, Sarah Vogel, Jacob Vogel, Matthew Woodham, and Amber Vogel; and five great-grandchildren. James' surviving siblings are Lenora Hunt, of Texas, and Leon Stephens, of California; sister-in-laws: Margaret Stephens, of Florida, and Carol Stephens, of Arizona. He also had many nieces and nephews across the United States that he loved dearly. They knew him as Uncle Hugh and their bond was special. James was preceded in death by his parents: William Edward & Foye Stephens; his brothers: William Harold Stephens, John Edward Stephens, and David F. Stephens; nephews: Mark Stephens, James (Pete) William Tackett, John Edward Stephens, Jr., and Marion Leon Stephens; niece, Linda Stephens; and grandchildren twins: Wyatt Matthew and Waylan James Woodham. A visitation will be held from 11am-12pm on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida. A funeral service will begin at 12pm, followed by military honors and burial at 2pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. The family asks anyone attending the visitation, service, or the cemetery to refrain from wearing perfume and/or lotion. We have a family member that is highly allergic and would prefer not to go to the hospital due to someone wearing perfume or lotion. Thank you. Visitation
