James Smeltzer of Ballston Spa, New York passed away Monday, June 19 at the home of his parents in Zephyrhills. He was born in Ballston Spa on March 23, 1962, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Evans) Smeltzer.
He traveled a lot as a child, living with his family on or near various Navy bases. After leaving high school, he joined the Navy in 1980. At the time of his death he was president and past employee of Team Holly Cleaning Inc. Jim enjoyed gardening and the preparation and preservation of his garden produce. He enthusiastically produced grilled and smoked meats year round on his backyard equipment. He was a fan of the Seattle Seahawks.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Jr and grandparents Louis and Millicent Adams and William and June Smeltzer. Jim is survived by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Smeltzer; his sister, Tabitha (Kevin) Schultz; his brother, William (Jerri) Smeltzer; his soulmate, Holly Meyer; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at a later date at the Gerald B. H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
