Overton, James S., Sr. (Sam), passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012, in Snow Camp, North Carolina. His wife of 60 years, Virginia, predeceased him in 2008. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn, of Leesburg, FL and sons James S. Overton, Jr. of Palm Harbor, Fl and Benjamin E. Overton of Sanford, NC. He is also survived by grandchildren David Merrick, II, Marleina Overton, Joshua Overton, Heather Brandt, and Chris Rainero. He enjoyed their 6 great-grandchildren. Sam came to Dade City in 1952 from Raeford, North Carolina. He enjoyed the small town life where he managed the A&P Grocery Store in downtown, owned and operated a gas station, a small grocery, and loved car sales at Huckabay Chevrolet. Visitation will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home, on Hwy 301, on Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 1:30-2pm; Service at 2pm and graveside to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to First United Methodist Church of Dade City.
