James R. Mattes, age 85, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin went to be with Our Lord Sunday evening, November 11, 2018 surrounded by his family at his home in Champions Gate, Florida. Born March 20, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Peter and Helen Mathuszak.Jim is survived by his wife Barbara Baker Mattes, of 16 years, daughter Tracy Mattes, sons Troy Mattes, Todd Mattes and Ben Mattes, and loving grandchildren Coby, Kylie, Kira, Caydon, Teegan, Tayja, Troyce, Temirah, Dylan, and Arielle. Jim was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.Jim was an army veteran of the Korean War. He was a respected advertising & marketing executive. Jim loved sports, especially football, where his favorite team was the Green Bay Packers. He spent his free time watching various sports games live and on TV; he played basketball for Marquette University and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed John Wayne movies and reading books. Jim had a great sense of humor was always there to help relatives and friends, coached different sports and enjoyed spending quality time with his family especially taking the family up north in Minocqua, Wisconsin.A special thank you to the people at Cornerstone Hospice for their loving care and support during his final days.
