Obituary

James William "Jimmy" Johnson 77, of Dade City passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at his home. He was born June 20, 1937 in Columbia, Tennessee. He moved with his family to Pasco County, Florida in 1947 and lived in Dade City most of his life. He was a 1955 graduate of Pasco High School and attended Florida Christian College in Temple Terrace in 1956. He owned and operated Johnson's Tractor Company in Dade City where he sold Oliver tractors and farm machinery until closing the business in 1980. He worked for Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, holding several different positions until his retirement in 1999. He also devoted approximately 10 years of volunteer service with the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, holding positions as Firefighter, Assistant Chief and Chief. He was a member of the Trilacoochee Church Of Christ, where he lovingly served as a song leader for over 40 years. Jimmy is preceded in death by his first wife, Ginger Russell Johnson. He is succeeded by his current wife, Denise Johnson of Dade City, two sons, Ted (Trish) Johnson of Dade City, and David (Nancy) Johnson also of Dade City. He has five grandchildren (Josh, Allison, Gavin, Meg and Caleb) and one great granddaughter (Kylie). He also has one sister, Nancy (Dub) Jeter of Tallahassee, Florida. "A true gentleman, full of laughter and love for God, his family and fellowman." Funeral services will be held 10am Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for viewing from 5-7pm Friday evening at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Flowers will be gratefully accepted, however, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida or a monetary donation in Jimmy's name to a relative or friend who may be struggling.
