James Fredrick Gant, also known as Jimmy, passed away on November 12, 2023, at the age of 85 in his hometown of Dade City, Florida. Born on April 4, 1938, in Dade City, Jimmy lived a fulfilling life surrounded by his loved ones and cherished hobbies.
Jimmy was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep passion and love for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his church community. When he wasn't attending Sunday Church Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he could often be found farming, fishing, or enjoying the water with friends and family. Jimmy had a gift for storytelling and would captivate his listeners with heartfelt tales and a smile on his face.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Sue Gant, his sister Bessie & Billy Corley, his brother David (Butch) & Carol Gant, his daughter Pamela Gant Harper, his son Randy Gant, his daughter Betty Gant Finch, his son Steven Gant, his son Johnny Gant, his daughter Cindy Fagan, His daughter Connie Gant and their spouses. Jimmy also leaves behind a legacy of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father James Budley Gant, his mother Rita Agnes Gant-Gude, his sister Dorothy & Ralph Hays, his son Dale Gant, and his son Sammy Gant.
Jimmy attended Pasco High School and later pursued a career as a Television Technician and farmer throughout his life. His dedication to his work and his passions left a lasting impact on those around him.
A funeral service to honor Jimmy's life will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 32145 St. Joe Road in Dade City, Florida, 33525. The viewing and Rosary Service will take place from 10 am to 11 am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 am. Services at the Parish hall will follow the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Covent House, a charitable organization that was dear to Jimmy's heart. Hodges Funeral Home in Dade City, FL, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
Jimmy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, joy, and storytelling will forever be remembered.
