James Leo (Jamie) Chastain 5-21-1948 - 11-20-2022 age 74 died in his sleep at his residence in Dade City Florida. He was 74 years old. Jamie was an only child born in Detroit Michigan to Ezra Lee and Shirley Mae Chastain. Jamie and his parents moved to Dade City Florida when he was a child. Jamie had fond memories of growing up in an idyllic neighborhood filled with children and happy families on Tank Hill, Dade City. Jamie loved school and baseball. He played Little League and followed the sport for life. Jamie attended St. Leo Prepatory High School as a "day hop". He still had his beanie. During high school he had jobs at Kiefers Drug Store and at Tony's Pool Hall. He was full of interesting stories. As adult Jamie lived a full life. He lived in many places including Winter Haven where he taught Humanities at the State College and was their IT guy. After retirement he moved back to his hometown of Dade City. Jamie was known for loving books, movies , playing chess and watching most sports on TV. He was an avid fan of football, baseball, golf. He told his doctor he would only wish to live long enough to enjoy just one more football season. Jamie has no survivors except his many many friends from growing up in a small town. He died of progressive COPD. He loved his introvert cat Buddy and his extrovert cat Buster. Jamie's close friends will arrange a gathering after the first of the year.
