James F. Brinkley Sr., 82, of Dade City, FL passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on November 17, 2019. Born in Asheville, NC, he is preceded in death by his parents James and Thelma Brinkley of Asheville, NC, a sister, Joy and brother, Jack.
Jim graduated from Hendersonville High School, Class of 56 and attended The Citadel. He was also a veteran of the USAF. His passions were about sports and auto racing, and both were things he excelled at himself. He was voted into the Hendersonville High School Football Hall of Fame in 2005. He quarterbacked for the Airforce while enlisted and drove (and built) all types of race cars his entire life. His professional career was spent as a service director for Chevrolet Dealerships. He was recognized by General Motors for his outstanding leadership many times and served on their SE Regional Council.
Survivors include his wife, Frances and children, Jim, Jr. of Tampa, FL; David (Joe Whitt) of Louisville, KY; Bryan (Peggy) of Seminole, FL and Michelle Allegood (David) of Zephyrhills, FL. Jim is also survived by his brothers: Kenneth (Judy); Richard (Gloria) and Gary; all of Ocala, FL. Jim has 3 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, many loving nieces and nephews and a special relationship with our forever Dona.
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 2-4pm at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City.
